Pioneer Park Covered Shelter #3 1602 Pioneer Road Des Moines, IA 50320 2 sections (rated and unrated) each session. 30 minutes per player for all moves using the Swiss System (designed to minimize the number of players who lose all their games). Reg: 8:30 – 9:20 am on site for the morning session, 12:30 - 12:50pm for the afternoon session. At least 3 Games each session. Morning session games start at 9:30am, Afternoon session games start at 1pm. Extra rounds will be played if they can be started by 11:45am and 3:15pm. Entry Fee: $3 per session ($5 for both sessions) if registered before 06/16/2012, $5 per session ($10 for both sessions) if registering on site. Prize Info: Medals to all participants. July 19, 2012   - July 20, 2012 West Des Moines Chess Camp   Click here for a camp brochure Open to the first 40 sign ups. Campers are expected to be able to play a complete chess game to checkmate. Snacks will be provided. Parents are welcome to observe. Topics to be covered will be openings, middlegames, endings, tactics, and practical aspects of chess. Each topic will be followed by contests and game play to help the students absorb the lessons. The cost for the camp is $75. A 25 dollar discount is available to any camper who attended last year's camp, a tournament run by instructors Hank Anzis and José Gatica since September 2011, or went to a chess club taught by Hank or José this past school year. This year's special guest instructor is 5 time Iowa Girls Chess Champion Bethany Carson.
